A Wonderful Way to Showcase The Mental Illness That Haunts Many Of Us Everyday. Thank You KatieJoy.

Spring of 2015 has been busy, trying, amazing and life changing. I have been through so many emotional peaks and valleys and finalizing my senior year has been such a cathartic experience. My Anxious Heart is nothing short of my child. I have battled anxiety for a decade, and I finally have been able to capture it and expose it in the light. I want to thank every single person who has been a part of this journey. From the first, small idea to the final exhibition, this project has taught me, challenged, me and changed me. I hope it can be a source of healing for others as it has been for me. Thank you for coming to view it and please let me know if you have any feedback! I’d love to hear from you.

Merry Xmas! An Illustrated History

so long as it's words

It’s Christmas!! I’m sitting here in my Fairisle knit jumper with reindeer and snowflakes on, I’m listening to Idina Menzel forcefully emote glorious Christmas music at me, and I still haven’t bought all my presents or finished putting the decorations up. The festive season is definitely upon us.

All of that is slightly beside the point for the purposes of this blog post, but damnit, I just really love Xmas.

Oh wait, sorry – not Xmas, Christmas.

This is a common complaint at this time of year and gets people really riled up. A quick poll of my small corner of Twitter (disclaimer: I did this last year and was so slow to write the post that I saved it for this year) shows that pretty much everyone prefers to write Christmas over Xmas. For some, it’s a matter of principle, that they don’t like shortening or abbreviating words, or because Christmas

Breakfast at McDonald’s

CathrineSilver.com

Christmas in Florida This is a wonderful true story about compassion and light–something we can all  apply in our lives.  For me recently, it was a young girl who didn’t have enough money for her groceries.  She needed 90 cents.  I gave her five. For this story it was McDonald’s.  Acts of compassion and kindness are always in season.

“My last project for sociology while completing my college degree was called, “Smile.”  The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway. So, I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally.  Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald’s one crisp March morning.  It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son. . .

Prayer for October 4th

Hope For The Broken Hearted

hope for the broken hearted

Hello, Friends! Here is today’s prayer…

Dear Lord,

You tell us, if we hunger to come unto you because You are the Bread of Life. You tell us if we thirst, to come unto You because You are the Living Water. You tell us if we are tired and weary, to come unto You and You will give us rest.

You tell us if we are troubled, to come unto You and You will give us Your peace.  You tell us that You will supply all of our needs, according to Your riches in Glory through Christ Jesus. You tell us to not let our hearts be troubled or afraid because you are with us.

Oh, Lord, how easy it is for us to forget your promises and commands when the worries and sorrows of the world come against us. We listen to the lies that are whispered to us by the enemy. We…
